Of Music & Opposites

It was 2017 when this seemingly unlikely pair first met at their alma mater. The discovery that they both liked the Japanese band ONE OK ROCK led to weeks of late-night talks, and after a period of going back-and-forth with sharing songs that vaguely hint at their feelings – songs that would then go on to populate their very own playlist – they took the plunge and got together (in other words, simply decided on a date for their anniversary).

Though the pair found themselves bonding over similar tastes in music and a shared interest in anime, Japanese media and video games, they soon found that they were opposites in more ways than one – and that they did not mind this one bit.

Sometimes, opposites attract, and sometimes, perhaps once-in-a-lifetime, it just works.

Marga and Lyle got engaged on January 14, 2023. Though the then bride-to-be saw it coming (the then groom-to-be outright told her a few details to keep her from getting suspicious), it ended in happy tears all the same after she heard the song from one of her favorite scenes in Genshin Impact playing in the background.

Perhaps he can pull off surprises of his own, after all.
